Long Reach moves to Langley's Field - Ryeford

by: Frank

With her job mostly done at Griffin Mill and Ham Mill pounds, the long reach digger (refreshingly painted with SVCC's purple) was collected by Ellis's Transport at 1000 today. The transporter backed into Ham Mill Lane where the digger was loaded, which made for less hold up's for traffic on the A419.

On traffic control where Ron, Frank, Steve Pickover, and Andy Pickersgill - Andy Jones and the lorry driver got the lady loaded. Traffic control went into overdrive, and the low loader, and Western Depot's replacement Mitzi headed for Bridge Road, Ebley to off load.

We picked up old tyres from ATS at Dudbridge for damage limitation to the private road we needed to access. Having good working relationships with businesses we deal with is great. On arrival at Bridge Road, our lorry driver had already reversed into the road without our assistance. Brilliant driver!!
He said he could reverse over the bridge and off load the other side, so he did.

Our job was to then get the digger round a 90 degree turn and protect the private road surface using tyres, and lengths of matting cut at Brimscombe earlier. The team worked hard, transferring carpet and tyres from the back of the digger to the front like Egyptians moved stones a few thousand years ago.
A brilliant result achieved as another 90 degree turn was required to get into the field that belongs to Jon Langley, where the digger now resides awaiting the level measurements to be done next week to determine how much silt we will remove from the pound just above Ryeford Double Lock.
