Dredging Progress and Wildlife’s Dinner

Today, with water levels above Bowbridge Lock finally restored to normal, Dredger No. 5 with work boat Wookey Hole & mud hopper Weft, were taken up through the Lock to resume dredging to Stanton's Bridge.

As we dredged our way through, a rarely seen bird was again seen scurrying around the hedgerow and fence on the offside.

The Water Rail is so used to us now, when we stop for a break, it appears foraging amongst the silt we take out.

He (or she) is well camouflaged, but trust me, it's close to our bucket!
