A new site for the SDC team!
The sun shone and the Thursday SDC team headed over to Bowbridge to kick off a project that may well be the most requested project on our list. It’s a DDA compliant ramp to allow wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs and bicycles
to bypass the steps at Bowbridge lock. The route will run from the end of Eagle Mill Close, down the side of a play area and then wind its way down through the trees to reach the towpath.
The first job of the day was to populate the tool container with a basic set of tools and materials then the team split into three. One group got on with painting the railings and repairing a wobbly step; two tasks that have been in our
sights for a while.
The main group started roughing out the path through the trees and grubbing out roots and stones
The final group began the new post and rail fence that will separate the path from the play area.
It was an excellent day and, somewhat unsurprisingly, ended up in the pub, the handily located Bowbridge Arms. I think we should make a rule that all worksites should have a pub next to them.
