SDC - Wycliffe College Team

On Wednesday morning we hosted Wycliffe College. 29 pupils aged 13 to 18 plus 6 teachers arrived at Upper Mills and quickly got down to business.

The teacher support meant we could split the team into smaller independent groups and spread out along the whole length. The day started slightly cooler than some but soon caught up with itself and delivered the same energy-sapping heat that seems to be the hallmark of the hottest ever summer since the last hottest ever summer so the many bottles of ice-cold water supplied by the college were most welcome.

There were three tasks: vegetation management along the towpath from Ryeford to Upper Mills,
clearing out the much neglected Ryeford Coal Pen,
and painting the Ryeford swing bridge.
