A new tug!
by: Dave Irving
CCT and SVCC have acquired a second tug, adding to the capabilities already provided by Goliath. She's called Gemma, and arrived in Stroud yesterday. She'll be used for dredging support work, moving mud hoppers, and is expected to in demand soon, when Patricia enters service. She's only about 20 years old, is in good condition, but is in need of some TLC – she's currently out of the water for us to start this work.
Today was spent surrounding her in scaffolding to provide a work platform and safety surround for the volunteers who will work on her. First steps will be to clear out the accumulated 'stuff' that all boats seem to collect, to sort out what can be reused, and to clear her for real work to start. We plan to totally repaint her, inside and out, starting with the bilges and working upwards and outwards.
We'll provide more info as work progresses. If you'd like to join us, please let me know at: Dave.Irving@CotswoldCanals.com.
