Summit W/P Dec 2017
The summit section are having excellent numbers of CCT volunteers; including several new members, come along on our monthly work parties - usually on a Sunday. December's work party was postponed to Saturday 30th, due to the heavy snowfall on the 10th. To prepare to strim down on the usually dry bed from the Roundhouse to the railway bridge, we checked and got all 4 strimmers working at our storage unit by the pub - a rare thing; so we knew there'd be a catch.
As the photos show the catch was that the snow melt and rain had filled canal - doesn't it look great, so no strimming could be done. The 12 volunteers had to content themselves with cutting down several trees that had fallen along the tow path in the snow and having a mammoth bonfire to clear the roundhouse garden; restoring to the pub after for our well earned Christmas team meal together.
Attached is normal looking canal bed - dry, then flooded plus the little water fall over the roundhouse stop planks, our bonfire there and a scan of the cartoon picture one of our volunteers Christine drew for a Christmas gift to me. [ See Blog of 14th Jan ]
