Dudbridge Grill
by: Andy P.
Another 2 days at the grill this week. Who said this was an easy job. Those bits of metal are seriously heavy. The tipper and the Mitsubishi were both fully loaded with everything we could possibly need.
Valiant attempts were made to suck out the water in the bypass and eventually we could see the bottom.
Very controlled and careful lowering of all the metalwork was achieved with everything laid out like a jigsaw.
The next bit of ingenuity, in the form of cup lock scaffold, was brought into use and the heavy top platform placed in a position, then the side supports bolted to it. Good progress.
Next job was to drill into the concrete floor so the side supports could be bolted in place. Somewhat tricky as when we did a level check the whole unit needed to be lifted 9 inches. Mmmm not quite the 3 inches we were expecting.
So an heroic effort was made to drill holes under muddy water to get the frame lined up.
Sump pumps never seem to work well when you need them to.
Lots of little fish rescued and returned to the canal so hope they are pleased.
