On Thursday we were at the Bowbridge ramp for one final push to get finished. The topping material was delivered first thing, a mere 8 tonnes of “dust” – Cullimore-speak for fine aggregate ranging from 3mm down to dust. The dust required regular sprinkling with copious amounts of water to help it bind to the layer of Type 1.
ust for a change (!) the weather was scorchingly hot but at least the dust is easier to shovel than the Type 1. So it was soon in place, dampened and whackered, to use a technical term.
The signage team put up the rather excellent signs and then we had to cope with an early pub visit. It’s a hard life.
We still need to tidy up a little and clear out our temporary container and compound but the ramp is now unofficially open. Watch this space for news of an official opening.
